Protect Hardwood Floor From Furniture

It goes without saying that hardwood floor looks immensely classy and aristocratic. There is something very regal and superior about a hardwood floor. Moreover, it is extremely durable and can last for ages. Many age old chateau and mansions have hardwood flooring which are in perfect condition till today. However, that does not mean it does not require some maintenance. Hardwood is resistant to most abrasions, but indiscriminate handling can often lead to severe damages, and fixing them can indeed burn a small hole in your pocket.

  • To start with, before you start worrying about outside elements, remove items that can harm your hardwood floor from within the house. If you have heavy furniture, always be sure to lift them up while moving them- dragging them on the floor is akin to blasphemy!
  • Try not to keep any sharp objects on something with a treacherous footing- an accidental push can cause it to fall and cause the deepest of dents on the floor.
  • Keep your floor carpeted at all times- at least the areas which are frequently worked on. Rooms like the study or living room have to endure more scrapings of chairs and tables as compared to the others, so it would be a good idea to keep wheeled chairs in these rooms.
  • You can also opt for a layer of protective, transparent sheath to cover the floors- they will prevent your hardwood floor from most damages, especially from staining.
  • It is not enough to give termite protection to your hardwood floors only, be sure to treat your wooden furniture with termite protecting solution as well as termites have a nasty habit of latching on to peripheral objects.

All you need is a bit of concern, and your hardwood floor will remain your object of pride forever.
